Ilukketiya Tea Chalets resort is tranquil, secluded and comfortable. The architect-designed chalets, simple yet elegant, are recently constructed and set apart from the main building, an ancestral family property sited in an tranquil oasis of lush green ‘down south’ tea. The exteriors, in earthy tones, harmonise with the surrounding tea plantings.
Your meals can be served in the dining rooms in the main house (for a dining experience away from home), in the garden (with spectacular tea-field views during the daytime and magical candle-lit dinners under the stars at night), or in yours room or chalet (for those who prefer to dine in privacy). The choice is yours.
The authentic Sri Lankan village life experiences you can enjoy at the resort include bathing in the freshwater well in the compound, harvesting fresh, seasonal vegetables and fruit from the garden and enjoying the hands-on experience of preparing traditional Sri Lankan food with the chef.

The pool and grounds
This is a place to chill out. No pressure. The pool and its surrounds invite you to take a dip, relax in the shade, and sip tea or cool drinks in the covered area. Pool towels provided free of charge, and the small gym in the main house meets the basic requirements for a workout.
You are free to wander in the grounds during the day, dine where you wish, and sit under the stars at night. There’s even a BBQ, and individual lockers.

Staff and services
The resort is managed by an efficient team ably assisted by employees who have served the family for decades. You’ll find us welcoming and helpful, but not intrusive. We want you to feel that you’re at your home away from home.
In addition to room service, you’ll find butler service, housekeeping, and laundry and ironing services.
Our people are family. Some have been with us for more than 50 years, raised as children on the estate. Everyone is local, and you will find 4 or 5 younger staff members and 3 or 4 tea pluckers working with the tea.
Safety and hygiene
We take pride in the cleanliness of the resort. You can be confident that we will observe best practice protocols throughout the property.
We have a doctor on call, and 24-hour security.
Authentic cuisine
Choose full board or half-board, with fresh, authentic Sri Lankan dishes prepared by our chef. Or, on request, we can prepare western and other dishes.
